Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in Calgary
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a gentle approach that helps you notice and better understand the patterns shaping how you think, feel, and move through life. At Beyond Roots Counselling, CBT is offered in a flexible, trauma-informed way that honours your lived experience and moves at your pace. Together, we focus on creating space for awareness, compassion, and meaningful change.
What Is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a supportive approach that explores the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and how these patterns influence our day-to-day experiences. Over time, we all develop ways of thinking and responding that help us cope — and sometimes those patterns can begin to feel heavy, limiting, or hard to shift.
CBT gently brings awareness to these patterns and helps you understand how they developed, while exploring practical, compassionate ways to respond differently when something no longer feels supportive.
CBT Might Be Helpful If You’re Experiencing
CBT can be helpful if you’re navigating challenges such as:
Ongoing anxiety or worry
Low mood, self-criticism, or feeling stuck
Stress, burnout, or overwhelm
Life transitions or periods of change
Patterns that no longer feel supportive
CBT therapy offers a space to slow down, make sense of your experiences, and develop tools that feel practical and grounding — while still honouring your emotional world.
My Approach to CBT Therapy
At Beyond Roots Counselling, CBT is relational and human. I show up as myself, and I invite you to do the same.
CBT is adapted to fit you — not the other way around. I integrate body awareness and nervous system regulation so the work can unfold gently and at your pace.
Our work is collaborative, and your experiences, preferences, and boundaries are always respected.
CBT and Trauma-Informed Care
CBT can be especially supportive when grounded in a trauma-informed approach. At Beyond Roots, therapy prioritizes safety, consent, and staying within your window of tolerance.
Rather than focusing on changing thoughts right away, CBT is woven together with grounding and regulation. This allows insight and change to emerge naturally, without forcing or overwhelming your system.
Healing happens best when you feel safe, supported, and listened to.
What to Expect in CBT Therapy
Early sessions focus on building connection and understanding what brings you to therapy. Together we will explore your goals and what support feels most helpful right now.
As therapy continues, tools and strategies are introduced gently and collaboratively. I regularly check in and adjust along the way, ensuring the process feels supportive, respectful, and aligned with your needs.
CBT is not about getting it “right” — it’s about learning, awareness, and self-compassion.
Session Options
CBT sessions are offered in the following formats:
60-minute CBT sessions – $235
90-minute CBT sessions – $350
We’ll decide together what session length feels right for you, based on your goals, comfort level, and the type of support you’re seeking.
